Austin just green-lit a huge mixed-use project on the east side that will mix apartments, shops, offices, and green space all in one spot. Developers say the first phase should wrap up within the next couple of years and bring thousands of new homes plus plenty of street-level activity.
Jobs and Daily Life Boost
Locals are already talking about the construction jobs and the permanent positions that will follow once the stores and offices open. The plan also includes parks and better walking paths so people can actually enjoy the neighborhood instead of just driving through it.
Keeping It Green
The team behind it promised solar panels, rainwater collection, and lots of native plants. They’re trying to keep the whole thing from turning into another heat-island concrete jungle, which a lot of us here really appreciate.
